csa pick-up: wk 11
(week 11… already?!)

1 bag of spring mix (if only it was still spring--
I'd love to relive the previous 10 pick-ups!)

1 large blue container of heirloom cherry tomatoes
(a joyous occasion indeed!)

1 bunch of carrots (finger sized and perfect for blanching and tossing in browned butter…)

1 bunch of beets (golden with light rusty skins and bright greens!)

1 bunch of basil (so fragrant!)

big fat yellow heirloom tomatoes (the size of a baby's head and bright as the sun!)

a bunch of red onion

green peppers (perhaps stuffed… mental note: check pantry for farro…)

Another stellar pick-up!
Here's a thought for a dish using just about all these ingredients: In a lightly oiled oven proof dish place some fillets of your favorite local fish… these days, fluke or rock-fish look very nice! Season them with salt and pepper. Toss with a little x.v. olive oil: some thinly sliced onions, some julienned carrots, and some cherry tomatoes sliced in half. Season with salt & pepper-- and some ground fennel seeds if you have it. Place a handful of the mixture on top of each fillet and place in a 400° oven for @ 10 minutes or so. After it's removed from the oven, garnish with some julienned basil and serve with a salad of spring mix and sliced roasted beets, or maybe a roasted pepper stuffed with farro. Whatever the side dish, a chilled glass of Prosecco or Portuguese Vinho Verde is definitely in order… or maybe some Gewurztraminer… hmm…

Cheers!
